When young people collaborate across continents, more than just code is created – a genuine connection emerges.
On February 23, 2026, an exciting German-Indian online student exchange took place as part of the “Connecting Classrooms” initiative. Students from the Heinrich-Hertz-Schule (Technical Vocational College II) and students from the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University in Pune, India, were connected via video conference.
The event began with a presentation about the Heinrich-Hertz-Schule, followed by an introduction to the practice-oriented educational concept of the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, which also integrates elements of the German education system. The university in Pune places strong emphasis on application-based learning and closely links theory with practical implementation.
Participants were then introduced to the basics and instructions for working with the Arduino microcontroller, and we discussed the system all together. In international breakout rooms, two German and two Indian participants worked collaboratively to program a microcontroller that emits a sound when motion is detected.
Representatives of the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University had already visited our school in 2025, when a Letter of Intent was signed to establish future cooperation on various levels (as previously reported).
This successful exchange marks the promising beginning of a sustainable German-Indian partnership, which is set to grow and deepen in the future through further joint projects, reciprocal visits and close collaboration between Karlsruhe and Pune.
